Robbie Tenerowicz
Interviewed By Mike Duffy
Mike Duffy: I was wondering when you go from high school to Berkeley, to the minor leagues, what was the biggest challenge when you reach each stage?
Robbie Tenerowicz: The biggest challenge was leaving each one in the past while keeping all the lessons I learned along the way because there’s such a big difference from high school to college (learning how to be independent) and then from college to pro ball (realizing baseball, while fun, is your job now)
Mike Duffy: What is your favorite thing about being a Ray?
Robbie Tenerowicz: I don’t know, I guess I don’t feel like a Ray yet since I haven’t played for them in the bigs! I could tell you my favorite thing about being a Hot Rod last year was how all of us players got to live in the same apartment complex. I was a 10 second walk away from my buddies which was nice…My favorite thing about being in the Rays minor league system is how we are given the freedom to be ourselves on the field, there’s no cookie cutter swing or player they’re looking for, just guys who play hard and play well.
Mike Duffy: What is your favorite hobby besides baseball?
Robbie Tenerowicz: I’ve always liked getting a group of people together to play some basketball or just sitting, chilling and talking to my friends haha.
Mike Duffy: Who was your favorite baseball player growing up?
Robbie Tenerowicz: Barry Bonds.
Mike Duffy: What was your favorite team growing up?
Robbie Tenerowicz: The San Francisco Giants!
Mike Duffy: Goals for this offseason?
Robbie Tenerowicz: Find a way to be healthier throughout the season. I gained some weight at the end of last year and I gotta find a way to keep my body consistent if I wanna keep my game consistent.
Mike Duffy: What is your favorite stadium?
Robbie Tenerowicz: Texas A&M in college, and in the minors it’s been the Dayton Dragons.
Mike Duffy: What is your favorite Movie?
Robbie Tenerowicz: My favorite movie is Babe.
Mike Duffy: What is your favorite T.V. show?
Robbie Tenerowicz: My favorite TV show is That 70’s show.
Mike Duffy: Do you have a thing to do to get you out of a rough time?
Robbie Tenerowicz: Call my mom.
Mike Duffy: When did you know you wanted to play professional baseball?
Robbie Tenerowicz: When I was little, 1 or 2, I used to sit in my diapers and watch 9 innings of a Giants game.
Mike Duffy: What is your favorite baseball memory?
Robbie Tenerowicz: It happened this year! I hit a home run on July 4th. My brother is a Marine and when I was running around the bases I was thinking about him and how proud I was of what he’s doing.
Mike Duffy: What is your biggest takeaway after this season?
Robbie Tenerowicz: To chill the hell out early in the season. It’s a loonnnggggg season, no need to get all worked up over one bad game in May.
Mike Duffy: Who is your favorite Musician and song?
Robbie Tenerowicz: Keak da Sneak, 19 dummy.
