Mike Duffy: I was wondering when you go from high school, to the minor leagues, what was the biggest challenge when you reach each stage?

Will Benson: The biggest challenge was handling failure. The challenge is more prevalent to my first year in pro ball and has gotten better since. In highschool, you’ve had a bad game or two and tell yourself today you are going 2 for 3 and do it. In pro-ball, it doesn’t work that way. You just have to develop patience and routines that will get you back on track.

Mike Duffy: What is your favorite thing about being an Indian?

Will Benson: My favorite part about being an Indian is how well everyone treats each other. It just feels like a big family.

Mike Duffy: Who was your favorite baseball player growing up?

Will Benson: Miguel Cabrera.

Mike Duffy: Goals for this upcoming season?

Will Benson: Go out play every game with joy and confidence.

Mike Duffy: What is your favorite stadium?

Will Benson: Progressive Field.

Mike Duffy: What is your favorite Movie? What is your favorite T.V. Show?

Will Benson: My favorite movie is Sandlot. My favorite T.V. show is Game of Thrones.

Mike Duffy: Do you have a motto or a thing to do to get you out of a rough time?

Will Benson: My motto is from the bible: Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, plans to give you a future and a hope.”

Mike Duffy: When did you know you wanted to play professional baseball?

Will Benson: When i was 14 yrs old, I played in a 17u tournament and did pretty well. After that tournament I started taking baseball even more serious and taking the thought of me potentially becoming a professional baseball player to heart.
