Mike Duffy: I was wondering  when you go from high school, to the minor leagues, what was the biggest challenge when you reach each stage?

Chad Smith: The biggest challenge going from high school to the minors is getting your body and mind tough enough to handle the physical and mental grind of playing baseball everyday. I’m high school you only play a couple times a week so it’s less strenuous.

Mike Duffy: Do you have a thing to do to get you out of a rough time?

Chad Smith: When I’m having a rough time during the season I always just call my dad and talk through it and we usually end up laughing about it before we get off the phone and after that I become relaxed and usually get out of it.

Mike Duffy: When did you know you wanted to play professional baseball?

Chad Smith: I knew I wanted to play professional baseball all my life. My grandad and dad both were drafted and played minor league ball so I wanted to follow in their footsteps.
