With the No. 32 pick in the draft, the Rays selected outfielder Nick Schnell from Roncalli High School in Indiana. – 

Mike Duffy: Many kids today have been raised to think fun is not important when playing baseball. In your opinion how crucial is it to have fun while playing the game?

Nick Schnell: It is crucial to play the game and have fun. When you are having fun that is when the most success occurs because you are just relaxed and playing a game you love.


Mike Duffy: What was the honor of being drafted in the first round like?

Nick Schnell: It was extremely humbling. It just was reassurance all the hard work was for something so special.

Mike Duffy: Tons of friends and family were there to celebrate with you. What was it like having them there?

Nick Schnell: The support system I have is incredible and I can’t thank my family, friends and supporters more.

Mike Duffy: What are you looking forward to most playing for the Rays?

Nick Schnell: Bringing a winning attitude to the organization, and hopefully eventually helping in providing a World Series.


Mike Duffy: Who was your favorite player growing up?

Nick Schnell: Javier Baez.


Mike Duffy: What team were you the biggest fan of growing up?

Nick Schnell: Cubs.


Mike Duffy: What is your favorite Tv show?

Nick Schnell: Game of Thrones.


Mike Duffy: Do you have a motto or a thing to do to get you out of a rough time?

Nick Schnell: Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Mike Duffy: When did you know you wanted to play professional baseball?

Nick Schnell: When I started playing baseball.


Mike Duffy: Who is your favorite Musician and what’s your favorite song?

Nick Schnell: Young Thug, For y’all by young thug.
