I had the opportunity to Interview 4 of the Top Prospects before the 2017 MLB Draft. Here are the Interviews;
Austin Beck (Round 1 Pick 6 Athletics)
Mike Duffy: What are some qualities you want in the team thats drafting you?
Austin Beck: Definitely the will to win, and the. Mentality to go compete every game.
Mike Duffy: So far what has been your favorite moment in your baseball career?
Austin Beck: Definitely winning the HighSchool state championship.
Mike Duffy: How old were you when you set your goal to become a major leaguer?
Austin Beck: I’ve had the dream ever since I started playing when I was 4.
Trevor Rodgers (Round 1 Pick 13 Marlins)
Mike Duffy: So far what has been your favorite moment in your baseball career?
Trevor Rodgers: Winning a state championship my junior.
Mike Duffy: How old were you when you set your goal to become a major leaguer?
Trevor Rodgers: Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to become a major leaguer.
Mike Duffy: Going to the actual draft, does that make you more anxious or is it something you are looking forward to?
Trevor Rodgers: A Little bit of both.
Mike Duffy: Besides your hard work who do you think helped you succeed the most in achieving your goal?
Trevor Rodgers: All of my coaches that made me better.
Mike Duffy: Who was ur role model growing up?
Trevor Rodgers: My parents.
Mike Duffy: Any player that was your favorite?
Trevor Rodgers: When my cousin played Cody Ross.
Bubba Thompson (Round 1 Pick 26 Rangers)
Mike Duffy: What are some qualities you want in the team thats drafting you?
Bubba Thompson: A good team that develops players, and take care of their players.
Mike Duffy: So far what has been your favorite moment in your baseball career?
Bubba Thompson: Just all the moments leading up to the draft. Pre draft work outs in the big league stadiums, playing in front of scouts in the summer and high school.
Mike Duffy: How old were you when you set your goal to become a major leaguer?
Bubba Thompson: Had the mind set since I was younger.
Mike Duffy: Besides your hard work who do you think helped you succeed the most in achieving your goal?
Bubba Thompson: God, family, parents, Matt, and Paul.
Mike Duffy: Does being at the draft tomorrow make you more anxious or is it something you are looking forward to?
Bubba Thompson: Something I am looking forward to, but I am a little nervous.
Mike Duffy: How did you feel when they called your name in the Draft?
Bubba Thompson: It was a Relief, A bear off of my back.
Sam Carlson (Round 2 Pick 55 Mariners)
Mike Duffy: What are some qualities you want in the team thats drafting you?
Sam Carlson: I want to be with a team that believes in my abilities and gives me a shot at playing in the bigs.
Mike Duffy: So far what has been your favorite moment in your baseball career?
Sam Carlson: My favorite moment was making the USA 40 man roster. The feeling was unbelievable hearing my name called.
Mike Duffy: How old were you when you set your goal to become a major leaguer?
Sam Carlson: I’ve wanted to play in the Major Leagues since I was a little kid, but not until my sophomore year did I realized that I really wanted to work hard and achieve it. I am still a long way away but I have come a long way since having made goals that big as a little kid.
